Premier Restoration Hawai’i was hired through a preferred vendor insurance program to begin the fire and smoke damage restoration on a 1,500 ft2 Maui home following the cause and origin investigation. The fire impacted 100% of the home with 50% of the structure deemed completely unsalvageable.
Because of the severity of damages, we did not provide any stabilization services. Following our inspection, we met with the owner and insurance adjuster to sign off on our preliminary estimates to begin the repair process. With a 4-technician crew of IICRC (Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification) Certified Fire and Smoke Damage Restoration Technicians, we packed out the salvageable and unsalvageable contents before removing the damaged building components like drywall, flooring, and finishes. Once we received the demolition permit, which included removing a large section of the roof and walls.
Media blasting with sodium bicarbonate—or baking soda—was used to remove smoke and soot damage from the salvageable framing. Hydroxyl generators and air scrubbers were used throughout the mitigation portion of the restoration process to deodorize the air of smoke and soot damage.
Once building permits were solidified, we reframed the removed section of the home and replaced the roof, reinstalled plumbing, electrical, HVAC, drywall, and all building finishes such as drywall, flooring, baseboard, doors, trim, cabinets, and appliances. During the reconstruction phase, the owner made some significant upgrades throughout the home which included a vinyl plank flooring install, upgraded cabinetry and granite counter tops.
SCOPE OF WORK:
• Pack out and inventory services of salvageable and unsalvageable contents.
• Demolition and removal of damaged building components (drywall, flooring, and finishes).
• Utilized air-scrubbers, hydroxyl generators, and media blasting using sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) to remove smoke and soot odor from salvaged framing and building materials.
• Removal and replacement of a large section of the home and part of the roof.
• Reframed removed section and reinstalled plumbing, electrical, roofing, HVAC, drywall, and all building finishes such as flooring, baseboard, doors, trim, cabinets, and appliances.
