Mold organisms are hungry little guys responsible for eating and decomposing as much organic material as possible including your drywall, insulation and wallpaper while their spores manage their reproduction and growth. All mold needs is a moist/damp environment and organic material to truly thrive.

It’s no wonder then that one of the most common places for mold growth is in an area that truly should be your most sanitary – your kitchen!  Mold does not necessarily need a major flood caused by a worn door gasket on your dishwasher.  Even things like steam from boiling pots of water on your stove can cause enough moisture to build up hidden from view, creating a smorgasbord feast for mold lurking behind wallpaper, drywall and behind everyone’s favorite appliance – The Refrigerator.

Refrigerators are our friends. Mold growth near them, not so much.

To maintain a happy fridge and to avoid mold growth from occurring on or near it, be sure to run vent fans when boiling water on the stove top or when running laundry appliances near the kitchen area.

And while it can be cumbersome to do so, be sure to pull your refrigerator away from the wall every three months to wipe away dust and moisture build up and to check for leaks on the walls directly behind it or for water puddling beneath it due to a slow water leak from a water line connected to it.

If you detect a musty odor near or around  your refrigerator, find large amounts of mold while monitoring the area, or identify any water damage, give us a call today for a free mold inspection. Our certified technicians can provide you a FREE MOLD INSPECTION and an honest estimate for a remediation plan OR simply provide you tips on how to avoid mold from growing altogether.
